Linda Wilkes will tell anyone the story of how she met Eugene Taylor. The day they met, it had only been a couple of months since Linda lost her son. That day she and her family were strolling down the streets of downtown Wake Forest, NC. Out of no where, Eugene shows up with his drum. He sets it up on the sidewalk of downtown, and begins to drum, while singing the lyrics to a Marvin Gaye song. Linda felt drawn to Eugene, and found herself walking towards him and his drum. Her daughter, son-in-law, grand-daughter, and husband followed. Linda, says it seemed as if her son spoke to her through the drum rhythms and uplifting songs Eugene began to play. She felt her son’s presence surround her and she was comforted in her grief. God used Eugene’s special gift to touch the pain Linda felt in her heart over the death of her son. Eugene’s anointed music sent healing to Linda’s heart. She will tell anyone how special Eugene is to her family. To her surprise, Linda later learned that her daughter Katie worked with Eugene at UNC Rex Healthcare, where Eugene sings to patients as he transports them throughout the hospital’s corridors.
